<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Role<br> <br>The Museum of the History of Science (MHS) seeks an exceptional individual to join as its first Head of Public Engagement and Programmes.</p><br> <p>The MHS is preparing to launch Vision 2024, an ambitious strategy for the 6 years ahead in the run-up to its first centenary. In the course of those 6 years and backed by a major fundraising campaign, the MHS is aiming to create and maintain a highly motivated diverse team in order to completely refurbish its galleries and back-of-house spaces, to create an award-winning visitor experience, to maintain and extend its reputation as one of the world-leaders in research and teaching and to make its collections fully accessible physically and digitally to audiences world-wide.</p><br> <p>The new Head of Public Engagement and Programmes (HPEP) is one of three heads of section within the Museum and part of the Directorate. S/he will support the Director in designing and implementing Vision 2024, playing a significant role in the planning and oversight of all public programming, learning and outreach, marketing and communications, and audience development.</p><br> <p>The Museum<br> <br>The Museum of the History of Science (MHS) is one of the four museums of the University of Oxford which include the Ashmolean, The University Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. The Museum occupies one of the oldest purpose-built museum-buildings in the world, the &#145;Old Ashmolean Building&#146; of 1683.</p><br> <p>With its unique collection of astronomical instruments from the Islamic World and one of the finest collections of European Medieval and Renaissance instruments, MHS ranks amongst the leading museums in its field. It is a national and international centre of excellence for research and teaching in the material culture of science, and the interpretation of its collection is supported by a lively programme of exhibitions and public events for a range of audiences.</p><br> <p>Benefits<br> <br>38 days holidays including Bank Holidays, subsidised travel scheme, excellent pension scheme, comprehensive childcare service, flexible working.</p><br> <p>How to Apply<br> <br>All applications must be made online.
