Archives Assistant - Archives and Modern Manuscripts

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY</p><br> <p>The Bodleian Libraries are seeking to appoint an Archives Assistant to support the administration, arrangement and description of the Libraries&#146; Archives and Modern Manuscripts as part of a team of collections support staff. Archives and Modern Manuscripts, one section within the department of Special Collections, is responsible for the development, administration and promotion of the Bodleian&#146;s major holdings of modern archives and manuscripts (post 1800).</p><br> <p>Your role will include assisting with the inventory, storage and movement of collection material and library records, undertaking arrangement and preservation tasks, and supporting the processing of digital archive material. Some reader services support work is involved.</p><br> <p>You will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in contributing to the work of the Bodleian Libraries as this relates to the management of its holdings of modern archives and manuscripts. You will be able to work with care, accuracy and attention to detail and to organise your work effectively, manage priorities and meet deadlines. You will work well both independently and as part of a team. You will possess good general IT skills including experience of working with spreadsheets and other Microsoft, or equivalent, applications.</p><br> <p>This is a full-time permanent post and will involve providing cover for evening and weekend duties as required.</p><br> <p>This role involves lifting, carrying and moving collection material and library records and using trolleys, kick stools and lifts. Driving on university business may be required.</p><br> <p>You will be required to upload a supporting statement as part of your online application.
