Senior Researcher on Healthcare Efficiency Through Infrastructure Free Indoor Localisation

Applications for this vacancy closed on 31 August 2018 at 12:00PM
We are pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Researcher in Healthcare
Efficiency through Infrastructure-Free Indoor Localisation. Working in the
Cyber Physical Systems Group, and reporting to Professor Niki Trigoni, the aim
of this project is to develop and test simultaneous localisation and mapping
(SLAM) techniques that use multiple trajectories to build an “experience map”
of available routes, building a floorplan in use cases where a detailed
floorplan is unavailable.

The project is part of a broader InnovateUK grant, awarded to the University
of Oxford and Navenio, a spinout on indoor positioning. You will be conducting
original research in collaboration with Navenio researchers, who will help
provide test and validation data from real hospital settings.

You will hold a PhD/DPhil, together with post-qualification research
experience in mobile robotics, indoor positioning (or related fields). You
will have experience in developing and testing robust Simultaneous
Localisation and Mapping algorithms for large scale problems, a strong
publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research
in the field of simultaneous localisation and mapping, and programming
experience in C++ and Python/Matlab. Experience of organising data collection
tasks and presenting results to large teams is highly desirable.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 31 August 2018.

Our staff and students come from all over the world and we proudly promote a
