<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) in the University of Oxford successfully led the major research project &#147;MaRIUS: Managing the Risks, Impacts and Uncertainties of droughts and water Scarcity&#148; within the UK Droughts on Water Scarcity Programme. During the MaRIUS project, a national water resource system model was developed using the WATHNET modelling system. The WATHNET model is being extended to cover all of England and Wales in support of national water resources assessment and investment planning. MaRIUS has now received additional funding to support dissemination and stakeholder uptake of the research. A team of researchers are making datasets available and providing case studies, demonstrations and training.</p><br> <p>We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate who will work with us to complete the WATHNET model, generate innovative research results and help to make the system available to practitioners in government and industry.</p><br> <p>The successful candidate will have experience of the implementation of water resources system models. You will have a flair for the development of innovative system modelling solutions. You must have a Doctorate and excellent programming skills, demonstrated through the implementation of system models, and ideally experience of optimisation, distributed computing and visualisation. You will have a sound understanding of drought risk analysis, uncertainty analysis and decision analysis and preferably innovative experience of applying these methodologies in the context of water management and water infrastructure planning decisions. You will be expected to publish their research work in the international academic literature.
