<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Department of Computer Science has a unique opportunity for a Research Associate in Cyber Security Analytics.</p><br> <p>You will conduct research into the performance of risk controls in order to estimate the probability of effectiveness of any specific control, and combinations of controls, for various system configurations, support the focus groups aimed at exploring the availability and nature of data for calculating CVaR ( Cyber Value-at-Risk) and contribute to the analysis of results, with a view to enhancing the data available, and conduct laboratory-based experiments and to construct system simulations to test hypotheses, and to contribute to the wider research of the project.</p><br> <p>You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience, have a deep knowledge of operational security measures specifically including intrusion detection technologies, access control technologies and the controls contained in the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, a strong background in probability theory/statistics, the ability to deploy and configure network intrusion detection technologies, and to utilise open-source security tools, knowledge of how attacks propagate and are detected, requiring knowledge of different types of attack, how intrusion detection systems work, and a working knowledge of the snort tool and rule design.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 28 September 2018.
