Research Associate in Medical Image Segmentation

Applications for this vacancy closed on 26 October 2018 at 12:00PM
The “Segmentation of medical data from MRI scans” project, led by Dr Irina
Voiculescu of the Computational Biology and Health Informatics research group,
and in collaboration with the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC), has a full-
time vacancy for a creative and enthusiastic Research Associate. The project
is about the clinical adoption of a medical image segmentation tool developed
in the research group. The successful candidate will be seconding in a clinic
at the NOC and using that experience in order to transfer the clinical
requirements into the software.

The role involves implementing and improving on novel partitioning and
segmentation algorithms, reorganising the code base in a robust way,
implementing systematic methods for validating the software output, writing
timely reports on the research, and performing demonstrations to clinicians
and researchers at the NOC.

The primary selection criteria are a doctoral degree in a relevant numerate
discipline (or close to completion) or an MSc plus relevant programming
experience, strong C++ programming and code documentation skills, and previous
experience of contributing to research. Experience of independently managing a
discrete area of a research or software development project, or of actively
collaborating in the development of research articles for publication is
highly desirable.

Informal enquiries about the position can be made to Dr Irina Voiculescu
(email: irina@cs.ox.ac.uk or tel: 01865 283501).

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 26 October 2018.
