<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>We are looking for a part-time Tissue Handling Technician to work in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. You will be part of the BRC Multimodal Pathology Sub-Theme team (within the NDS Tissue Handling Platform) and will provide support for work involving tissue (and body fluids) across the BRC 3 Molecular Diagnostic Theme.</p><br> <p>You will be expected to work across several projects, providing services for sample acquisition, processing and allocation of pathological material, particularly prostatic and colorectal cancers. You will be responsible for carrying out a variety of histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding and sectioning, IHC and digitisation of slides using a slide scanner. You will also carry out molecular biology techniques specifically DNA and RNA extraction.</p><br> <p>You will have excellent communication skills as this role requires you to liaise with a wide range of contacts related to the theme activities, including: members of the Biobank Teams, members of the clinical teams &#150; nursing, surgical, pathology and researchers wishing to seek access to samples.</p><br> <p>The successful candidate will have proven work experience in a laboratory performing histological techniques, a practical ability in basic molecular laboratory skills and will have an awareness of relevant legislation related to human sample acquisition, storage and processing. You will be computer literate, including MS Office, have accurate data entry skills and the ability to maintain and interrogate electronic databases.</p><br> <p>You will need to be willing to travel across different locations in Oxford University Hospitals and will have an ability to plan and manage your own work schedule, whilst remaining adaptable to changing priorities.</p><br> <p>This part-time post (29.2 hours per week/0.8FTE) is available immediately and is fixed-term until 31 March 2020 in the first instance.</p><br> <p>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and as part of the application process you are required to upload your CV and a covering letter.
