<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Faculty of English Language and Literature, in association with Jesus College and Oriel College, is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer. This is a 1-year fixed-term teaching and research appointment in English Literature, with a core focus on medieval literature. The purpose of the post is to cover the Faculty and College teaching of Dr Marion Turner, who will be on research leave funded by the Leverhulme Trust. It is anticipated that the appointee will take up their post on 1 January 2020.</p><br> <p>The postholder will be expected to provide 8 hours of undergraduate tutorial teaching per week for the College, and up to 16 hours of Faculty lectures or classes per year. The Faculty teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate lecturing on Troilus and Criseyde (the set commentary text) in particular. The postholder will also undertake dissertation supervision, examining, and the normal duties of a college tutor, including admissions.</p><br> <p>The successful candidate must possess or be near to completing a doctorate in medieval English Literature or a related field and must have experience of undergraduate teaching and possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. They should also have a research and publication record, appropriate to their career stage, in English literature.</p><br> <p>Candidates shortlisted for interview will be asked to submit a sample of written work in advance of the interviews, and will be requested to give a short presentation as part of the assessment process. Two references will be requested for shortlisted candidates.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 6 September 2019. Interviews will be held in Oxford on Thursday 3 October 2019.</p> </div>
