<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The History of Science Museum (HSM) seeks an experienced cultural manager to join as its Head of Public Engagement and Programmes (HPEP). The HPEP will lead on learning and programming, outreach and participation, audience development, and communication and marketing.</p><br> <p>The HSM is about to launch Vision 2024, an ambitious strategy for the 5 years ahead in the run-up to its first centenary. In the course of those 5 years and backed by a major fundraising campaign, the HSM is aiming to create and maintain a highly motivated diverse team in order to completely refurbish its galleries and back-of-house spaces, to create an award-winning visitor experience, to maintain and extend its reputation as one of the world-leaders in research and teaching and to make its collections fully accessible physically and digitally to audiences world-wide.</p><br> <p>Together with the Head of Research, Teaching and Collections, and the Head of Operations and Planning, the HPEP will support the Director in developing, implementing, and delivering Vision 2024 and in managing change, playing a significant role in the planning and oversight of all public programming within the Widening Engagement Strategy of the University&#8217;s Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM).</p><br> <p>The History of Science Museum (HSM) is one of the four museums of the University of Oxford which include the Ashmolean, The University Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. The Museum occupies one of the oldest purpose-built museum buildings in the world, the &#8216;Old Ashmolean Building&#8217; of 1683.</p><br> <p>With its unique collection of astronomical instruments from the Islamic World and one of the finest collections of European Medieval and Renaissance instruments, HSM ranks amongst the leading museums in its field. It is a national and international centre of excellence for research and teaching in the material culture of science, and the interpretation of its collection is supported by a lively programme of exhibitions and public events for a range of audiences.</p><br> <p>You will be required to upload a CV and a supporting statement as part of your application.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 2 September 2019. The first round of interviews is expected to be held on Wednesday 18 September 2019 and you must be available on this date. Successful candidates in this round will be called back shortly thereafter.</p> </div>
