<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY</p><br> <p>The History of Science Museum houses an unrivalled collection of historic scientific instruments in the world&#8217;s oldest surviving purpose-built museum building, the Old Ashmolean on Broad Street, Oxford. By virtue of the collection and the building, the Museum occupies a special position, both in the study of the history of science and in the development of Western culture and collecting. The present collection preserves the material of past science. As a department of the University of Oxford, the Museum has a role both in making this material available for study by historians, and presenting it to the visiting public.</p><br> <p>You will be part of the operations team supporting the Museum to deliver accurate financial accounts, follow current HR procedures and legislation and complete a comprehensive list of administrative tasks. You will get the chance to work with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds. The Museum is an exciting place to learn from your peers and to share your skills and knowledge.</p><br> <p>You will have general responsibility for the administrative support for a number of departmental functions within the Museum of the History of Science, liaising where appropriate with the other University libraries, gardens and museums, including day-to-day operations, answering incoming enquiries and liaising with contractors and staff, finance, health and safety, security, HR and group visits. We are looking for a self-motivated, flexible individual, able and willing to work independently as well as with direction and guidance from the line manager and other staff members.</p><br> <p>You will be passionate about delivering as part of an operations team. You will be satisfied delivering on financial, administrative and operational tasks to an extremely high standard in a fast-paced environment where you&#8217;ll be required to balance multiple tasks and stakeholders.</p><br> <p>This role is full-time. You should be able to work evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts when required, with flexibility to support museum events.</p><br> <p>A start date will be agreed with the successful candidate for as soon as is practicable.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 14 August 2019. We expect to hold interviews for this role in August.</p> </div>
