Divisional Finance Manager - Schwarzman

Owing to the recent growth in financial activity within the Humanities
Division, we are looking to grow our Divisional Finance team and are seeking
to recruit two Divisional Finance Managers, one undertaking a key role in the
Schwarzman activity and the other in the management of the shared service
team.
This is the advert for the Divisional Finance Manager (DFM) – Schwarzman. This
post reports directly to the Divisional Financial Controller (DFC). The
successful applicant will join an agile and dynamic team of professionals that
provide financial support across the Division and its 11 faculties. This role
is permanent and full-time.
One of the University’s four academic divisions, the Humanities Division is
made up of ten academic faculties, with over 500 academic staff and
approximately 6000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Humanities
Division has embarked on a major building project on the Radcliffe Observatory
Quarter, following the recent announcement of the £150 million gift to create
the Stephen A Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.
The DFM – Schwarzman will work closely with the DFC and key work stream leads
from the Schwarzman Centre project to ensure effective financial management
for the new activity that will take place in the Centre and with a keen
commercial focus.
We are looking for a qualified accountant who has experience in working in
both a large complex organisation and a commercial environment. With
demonstrable technical accounting skills including budgeting and forecasting.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to
communicate finance matters to non-financial staff including senior management
and administrators and be able to negotiate with and persuade non-accountants.
The successful candidate will have proven ability to establish and maintain
multiple relationships; lead and be part of a team; build a strong network;
bring about effective changes; also be able to work independently.
Understanding or experience of the University’s Oracle financial system will
be a strong advantage.
