Owing to the recent growth in financial activity within the Humanities
Division, we are looking to grow our Divisional Finance team and are seeking
to recruit two Divisional Finance Managers, one undertaking a key role in the
Schwarzman activity and the other in the management of the shared service
team.



This is the advert for the Divisional Finance Manager (DFM) – shared service.
This post reports directly to the Humanities Division Finance Business
Partner. The successful applicant will join an agile and dynamic team of
professionals that provide financial support across the Division and its 11
faculties. This role is permanent and full-time.



One of the University’s four academic divisions, the Humanities Division is
made up of ten academic faculties, with over 500 academic staff and
approximately 6000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Humanities
Division has embarked on a major building project on the Radcliffe Observatory
Quarter, following the recent announcement of the £150 million gift to create
the Stephen A Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.



The Humanities Division has moved to a finance shared service model and with
its success and growth a new role of DFM – shared service is required. The
postholder will work closely with the Finance Business Partner to ensure this
strategic objective continues to be achieved, and that the service continues
to focus on customer requirements. Supporting the Division and its academic
faculties with budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, financial
planning and analysis and the delivery of ad hoc finance projects will also be
a duty in this role.



We are looking for a qualified accountant or someone in the final stages, you
will have several years’ experience in a financial role. Staff management will
need to be a key strength and you should have highly refined negotiating
skills. You will have a proven ability to establish and maintain multiple
relationships; build a strong network; bring about successful effective
changes.



You will be a highly motivated self-starter with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude;
able to manage competing activities with high impact to tight deadlines with
limited notice; able to provide practical solutions to problems. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills are essential. Understanding or
experience of the University’s Oracle financial system will be a strong
advantage.
