<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The University, in association with St Peter&#8217;s College, proposes to appoint an Associate Professor or Professor in Popular Music with effect from 1 October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the (Associate) Professorship will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at St Peter&#8217;s College and will be a member and trustee of its Governing Body.</p><br> <p>The person appointed will be required to provide not fewer than 36 hours of lectures/seminars per year for the Faculty of Music and to undertake examining and graduate supervision. For the College they will be expected to take responsibility for the organisation, supervision and teaching of Music at St Peter&#8217;s College including arrangements for admission to the subject; to undertake up to 6 hours of tutorial and class teaching a week averaged over the three terms of the academic year; to organise tutorial provision in subjects that the appointee does not teach; to take pastoral care of students; and to take a full part in the administration of the College including acting as a member of College committees when called upon to do so and attending St Peter&#8217;s College Governing Body meetings.</p><br> <p>Applications are welcome from candidates with expertise in any aspect of popular music in any period and/or geographical area, with a view to complementing the teaching and research interests of current postholders within the Faculty of Music. This expertise may embrace a range of interdisciplinary and theoretical approaches to music studies, and may be in any musical tradition, including music for film and mass media. Please note that this is not a position for candidates who are primarily composers.</p><br> <p>The successful candidate will have the potential to enhance the high reputation of the Faculty of Music in research and teaching. They will have a proven record of internationally recognised scholarship and research, or the clear promise of such achievement, and will be required to provide a high standard of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the supervision of research students. The postholder will also be expected to play a full and active role in Faculty administration and undertake Divisional responsibilities as needed. An interest in interdisciplinary research and a willingness to collaborate with the work of related University departments or institutes is desirable.</p><br> <p>Candidates must hold a doctorate in music or a closely related discipline, already awarded at the time of application.</p><br> <p>The combined University and College salary is in the range &#163;48,114 - &#163;64,605 p.a., plus additional benefits including college housing allowance of &#163;9,660 p.a.
