<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Faculty of English Language and Literature seeks to appoint an Administrative Assistant capable of playing a helpful and efficient role in the administration of a large and busy faculty. You will form part of the Faculty Office team, who provide a first point of contact for visitors to the faculty, staff, and students, as well as making arrangements for teaching (including producing the Faculty's termly Lecture List), conferences and special events; managing room bookings in the St Cross Building; maintaining the faculty website and intranet; and providing general administrative support to academics and the wider administration team.</p><br> <p>The successful applicant will be one of two part-time (1.62 FTE) administrative assistants who support the Deputy Administrator in the provision of the Faculty Office's services. You will provide general administrative support as part of the office team and will also have responsibility for a number of specific areas. These will initially include providing PA support for the Head of Administration and Finance and the Chair of the Faculty Board; administering the Faculty's Discretionary Membership scheme for visiting academics; and assisting the Deputy Administrator with the setup and management of casual appointments, but members of the office team are expected to work flexibly across all aspects of the office's work and the allocation of responsibility may be changed in the future to reflect workloads and individuals' experience and abilities.</p><br> <p>The successful applicant will be able to work on their own initiative and will possess good attention to detail and organisational skills. They should have previous experience of an office environment, good IT skills and be capable and confident in dealing with a wide range of individuals, including students, academics and external visitors, working as part of a team in a busy, but friendly, office.</p><br> <p>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online.
