The Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School (INET
Oxford) is seeking an experienced communications professional to further
develop and lead its outreach and strategic communications programme, during
the current Manager's maternity leave. The programme is aimed at improving the
spread and impact of new economic ideas, and to inform more effective policies
and practices.





The Communications Manager's activities enable the Institute to have a greater
impact and profile from its significant output of research content. They
oversees all aspects of communications for INET Oxford working with colleagues
at all levels and a member of the INET Oxford Management Committee.





Institute research topics include economic inequality, climate change,
economic growth and innovation, financial system stability, the purpose and
moral foundations of the economy, and currently, extensive research on the
ongoing COVID-19 crisis.





A key aspect of the role is to “translate” INET Oxford research, in close
collaboration with the Institute's academics, into clear and compelling
content that can engage a variety of non-academic audiences. You will generate
and edit press releases, op-eds, long-form media pieces, policymaker
briefings, speeches, podcasts, blog posts, funder reports and proposals, and
content for the INET Oxford website. The successful candidate will also
further develop and execute strategies for the dissemination of content by
developing relationships with relevant journalists and media outlets, external
academics, policymakers, thought leaders, civil society groups, business
leaders, and philanthropic funders.





This is a maternity leave cover post, anticipated to be fixed term until 31
July 2022. We welcome applications from both full-time and part-time
candidates (at least 0.8 fte) who are seeking flexible work arrangements, and
strongly encourage secondments from within the University.
