This work will involve the recruitment and screening of healthy adolescents and adults, as well as adolescent volunteers with depression and/or anxiety disorders. Outcome measures will involve changes in cognition and emotional processing, assessed using behavioural cognitive testing and physiological measures. This study will require adherence to Good Clinical Practice and liaison with medical and nursing professionals. Responsibilities • Take an active role in recruiting healthy adolescents and adults, as well as adolescent volunteers with anxiety disorder and/or depression • Carry out participant screening, study assessments and reimbursements • Develop study protocols and assist with ethics applications • Organise the schedule for assessment of participants • Log and organise all data collected during assessments • Perform behavioural cognitive testing • Assist in analysis of behavioural and potentially neuroimaging data • Contribute to scientific reports and journal articles and the presentation of data/papers • Collaborate and co-ordinate with clinical colleagues • Work autonomously once trained, as well as part of a larger team. Working within the guidelines set out by the GDPR, the Code of Ethics and with full understanding of the terms of confidentiality • Administrative duties related to the project • Liaise closely at all times with the Principal Investigator to ensure smooth running of the study and participant’s experience within the study • Other tasks on an ad hoc basis relating to the research as required Selection criteria Essential selection criteria • Excellent undergraduate degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience, Psychology, Medicine) (high 2:1 or 1st, or equivalent). • Demonstrable research experience, including the ability to independently manage the day-to-day running of a research project including scheduling assessment sessions and liaising with other researchers and staff at multiple sites. • Strong interest in cognitive neuroscience, psychopharmacology or clinical psychology and experience running psychological tasks on human participants • Ability to relate professionally to patients/participants/parents and experience recruiting participants to studies • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely • Excellent organisational and time management skills • Ability to manage large data sets; and basic data analytic skills, including data entry, cleaning and organisation of files and the conduct of analyses using SPSS and/or R Desirable selection criteria • Masters degree in a relevant subject • Experience of analysing fMRI data (especially functional connectivity/ resting state data) • Experience of collecting and analysing skin conductance data (e.g. Biopac) • Experience programming psychological tasks or proven ability to learn • Experience of working with patients with depression or anxiety • Experience of working with young people • Experience of writing or contributing to published articles as evidenced by authorship .
