We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our dedicated, professional and friendly HR team at the Nuffield Department of Medicine. Working as part of the HR Centres of Excellence, this is a unique opportunity to develop the employee relations offering within a growing and world-leading clinical research department.

 

As Employee Relations Manager you will partner with key academic and professional services staff across the department and wider university to provide high-quality HR leadership and direction in relation to a wide range of matters. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a culture of continuous improvement across the department, including absence management, performance management, family leave and disciplinary and grievance. You will be responsible for managing two experienced Employee Relations Partners, supporting people-related activity across the department.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in employee relations and providing proactive, persuasive and effective advice on a full range of issues, enabling managers and staff to achieve their objectives. With proven ability to identify and manage risk in complex cases requiring robust and creative solutions, you will also have first-hand experience of providing HR support for complex organisational change. Excellent organisation, prioritisation and influencing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally are essential.

 

The successful candidate will be qualified to CIPD graduate level with solid knowledge and experience of the application of UK employment law, best practice and current thinking in HR management. You will have demonstrable experience of managing and developing a team of HR professionals, as well as the ability to critically analyse complex situations and recommend effective solutions.

Inform key stakeholder decision making through management information and analysis, enabling collaborative continuous improvement. Liaise with other University departments and external institutions with similar objectives to ensure shared learning, relevant benchmarking and the adoption of best practice, as appropriate. Communicate key HR policy changes to the department and update staff on new regulations within the University, providing briefing sessions for staff as required.
