About the role

The Bodleian Libraries are currently seeking to appoint a Team Member to join the Security section. Our team is essential to the care and security of our historic buildings and collections and play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of our daily operation.

 

An opportunity to join the Bodleian Library Security Team has arisen, as we continue our roles in the Weston Library, and also maintain our presence in the Old Library and Radcliffe Camera.

Daily duties will vary considerably to provide our customers, both Library and Commercial, with a safe and welcoming environment conducive to their particular needs.

 

This is a permanent, part-time post, working 32 hours per week.

 

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check, due to working with collection items and in restricted areas. 

 

About you

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain composure and authority in all circumstances, the ability to interact with people at all levels in the organization and beyond and the ability to work as part of a team. You will be observant with an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a good standard of written and spoken English.

 

You will also be willing to work some antisocial hours including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. The ability to complete repeated tasks and spend significant time standing and walking is also essential.

 

An industry-recognized security qualification and/or training and experience in security duties, a first aid qualification are desirable.

The team will look after the people, buildings and collections within the Old Bodleian Library, the Weston Library, the Radcliffe Camera and the Clarendon Building.
