The OTEC group works with clinicians and patients around the world to discover how patients are most effectively treated after serious injuries and emergencies, using evidence from randomised controlled trials and observational datasets. Research projects undertaken by OTEC utilise the REDCap (https://www.project-redcap.org/) web-based data collection system for both direct entry by hospitals and patient completed measures. In addition, applications have been written adding to the functionality of REDCap to make the user experience better. This role will aid in the building and testing of clinical data collection systems. Responsibilities Your main duties and responsibilities will be: • To work with the Senior Research Information Specialist and study trial managers/coordinators to • assist with the management of data collection systems. • To work with the Senior Research Information Specialist to design, develop and maintain data collection forms used by OTEC. • To work with the Senior Research Information Specialist to create and develop data collection systems and specifications. • Carry out missing data and quality checks by reviewing documents, checking against query lists, and contacting site staff for further information. • Coordinate the resolution of data queries when able, or re-direct them to managers as appropriate. • To work with the Senior Research Information Specialist in the writing, reviewing, and running test scripts and other support documentation for trial databases. • To complete and file all task-related paperwork in accordance with OCTRU Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory frameworks, and work with the programming team to streamline processes where possible. • To contribute to OTECs administration: production of internal procedures and standardised manuals of operation. • To work with the Senior Research Information Specialist to ensure all systems comply with the departmental Standard Operating procedures. • To communicate effectively on a day-to-day basis, both orally and in writing • Work to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines on data management • Ensure confidentiality and security of data at all times, complying with all relevant policies and legislation. • The duties above are not rigid or inflexible and other duties may be included as required. It is essential to have previous experience of working within an office and administrative environment. You will have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload. You will be accurate and numerate with strong attention to detail. You will have the ability to work both, as part of a team and independently, using your own initiative in solving problems, yet understanding when to escalate an issue to the appropriate person.
