We are recruiting for a Deputy Head of Development to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the University of Oxford’s Development Office  https://www.glam.ox.ac.uk/home.

How would you like a job where in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, Shakespeare’s First Folio, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work?

The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play an important role in the University’s research.  In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage our academics and curators.

About the role:

In your role, you will be involved in leading on fundraising for the exhibitions and other day-to-day activities across GLAM, supporting a team of fundraisers, and working closely with members of the institutions.  In addition, you will have your own portfolio of major gift prospects, and will work with donors, prospects, volunteers and senior academics.  You will also work closely with the Associate Director of Development – GLAM to develop strategies and manage relationships with the Directors.

To be successful in the role:

We are seeking an experienced major gift fundraiser, with proven success of achieving six and seven figure gifts.  This is an opportunity to raise funds to support some of the most beautiful and significant objects and collections in the country, so your enthusiasm and interest in the arts and sciences is essential.  In addition, you will be able to work with our eminent academics and curators and support them in developing projects to present to donors.

What We Offer

As an employer, we value the wellbeing and development of all our employees. We offer a comprehensive range of benefits, including:

•        38 days annual leave (including public holidays)

•        Hybrid working arrangements for a healthy work-life balance

•        Extensive personal and professional development opportunities

•        Membership to CASE to support your professional development as an educational advancement professional

•        Supportive childcare services and other family-friendly leave schemes for working parents, guardians and those with caring responsibilities

•        Generous family leave for pregnancy, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave

•        Excellent contributory pension scheme for your financial future

•        Salary sacrifice scheme for additional savings

•        Subsidised sports centre membership to promote well-being

•        Cycle loan scheme to encourage sustainable commuting

•        Discounted bus and transit travel

In addition, you will have access to a vibrant community with social groups and sports clubs fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
