The expansion of our Department and the increasing workload of our Information Technology Office have created the need for a talented IT Support Officer like you.

 

This is a full-time position, available on a permanent contract.

 

About the role

As our IT Support Officer, you'll be the first point of contact for staff, tutors and students, providing essential support and advice on IT matters. Your primary duties will include:

-          Offering first-line IT support for PC and Mac devices, including troubleshooting SSO and MFA issues.

-          Handling activation code requests and resolving IT issues both in person and remotely.

-          Investigating telephone and wireless network issues and performing network cabling and patching as required.

-          Managing equipment procurement and maintenance, including hardware/software installation and printer maintenance.

-          Ensuring compliance with legislative and University cybersecurity and data protection policies.

You'll have the chance to work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to a wide array of tasks, technologies and systems. This role offers ample scope for training and professional development, allowing you to enhance your skills and grow in your career.

 

About you

You will have prior IT support experience in a university or business environment. You will have excellent personal skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a good sense of humour and patience.  Strong attention to detail and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows 10 are also essential requirements of the role, together with experience with laptop/desktop installation, configuration, and printer maintenance.

This post has become available due to the expansion of the Department and of the workload of the Information Technology Office. It will expose you to a considerable range of tasks, technologies and systems, giving a varied and fulfilling workload. You will be responsible for firstline IT support of staff, tutors and students. There is scope for training and professional development. The Information Technology Office currently supports the use of more than 300 laptops and desktops, together with printing and telephony across the Department and consists of a Senior IT Manager, a Business Systems Development Manager, two Web and Database Developers and a Deputy IT Manager, to whom this post will report. Responsibilities PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE IT SUPPORT ASSISTANT             First point of contact for staff, tutors and students giving support and advice on IT matters – including SSO (Single Sign On) and MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) issues on PC and Mac devices.
