With our unique expertise in chemical biology and genomic technology, we have developed cutting-edge technologies in epigenetics and epitranscriptomics to elucidate biological functions and develop clinical applications. Previously, we developed a bisulfite-free and base-resolution direct sequencing method for DNA epigenetic modifications, and demonstrated its application in circulating cell-free DNA sequencing for early cancer detection (Nat. Biotechnol. 2019, 37, 424; Sci. Adv. 2021, 7, eabh0534). Recently, we developed a novel sequencing method for the most abundant RNA modification pseudouridine (bioRxiv 2024.2001.2008.574649, Nat. Methods in revision). We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist with experience in epigenetics or epitranscriptomics to lead various projects such as cell-free epigenetics or epitranscriptomics sequencing for cancer detection and single-cell epigenetics or epitranscriptomics sequencing for studying tumour heterogeneity. Responsibilities You will:             Manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines Adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols Test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate Contribute ideas for new research projects Develop ideas for generating research income, and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters Use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment Act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone Carry out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups Participate in and support the public engagement and widening access activities of the Department and the University.
