The Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery within the Environment Change Institute (ECI) seeks to appoint a part-time (60%) Field and Lab Technician to contribute to the monitoring underpinning the ecological work taking place around Oxfordshire and invertebrate ID work. The job is aimed at understanding the impact of nature recovery (passive and active restoration) on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning using a grazing intensity gradient. Invertebrate, microclimate, ground flora, and bioacoustics monitoring are taking place on developed sites around Oxfordshire. The post holder will be responsible for accurately collecting and processing field data as well as identifying invertebrates of different taxa to species and functional groups.

 

Reporting to Prof Yadvinder Malhi and Dr Cecilia Dahlsjö

 

To be a successful candidate you must meet the following;


  • Hold a first degree in the relevant field, together with relevant experience.


  • Ability to conduct physically demanding fieldwork and long working hours.


  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions in challenging working conditions.


  • The ability to work well as part of a team and build cooperative working relationships.


  • Good time management and organisational skills.
