The role This role presents an exciting opportunity to join the Mathematical Institute, a thriving academic department with an outstanding reputation for its research and teaching. You will be expected to maintain and build on existing relationships between the Mathematical Institute and industrial partners, and seek out new such relationships. You will identify and support industry projects for MSc students, including providing guidance to students on applications and interviews for industry projects. You will be a first port of call for academics and those working in industry who wish to nurture collaborations, proactively soliciting and helping develop projects for research projects by researchers at all levels. Responsibilities • To identify and support industry projects for the MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing and the MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance, and possibly other MSc programmes in future. (It is expected that you will spend about three days/week on MSc industry projects averaged over the course of the year.) • To provide students with guidance on applications and interviews for industry projects, and organise company recruitment visits to the department • To be the principal contact point for day-to-day interactions between the Mathematical Institute and its business, industry, charity and government partners. • To nurture existing relationships between the Mathematical Institute and its business, industry, charity and government partners, and expand the company portfolio through visits, advertising, and engagement in relevant events. • To develop and implement the Mathematical Institute’s industrial engagement strategy in consultation with appropriate colleagues. • To work with companies and academics to identify and set up challenges suitable as research projects.
