The READ-OUT Programme is a £4.5m project funded by Alzheimer's Research UK, Alzheimer's Society, National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the People’s Postcode Lottery. This ambitious programme is aimed at establishing the utility of blood biomarkers of dementia in the care of people with cognitive disorders. In the first three years of the programme we will complete an observational study establishing the best performing biomarkers in a real-world Memory Clinic population with sites across the UK. We will then conduct a randomised control trial in which we will examine the effects of the blood biomarker disclosure on patient outcomes, healthcare utilisation and treatment pathways. Reporting to Dr Vanessa Raymont, the Research Assistant will be instrumental in supporting the development of the READ-OUT Programme of work. Key considerations will be an understanding of the UK clinical research environment. As the Programme studies start, the Research Assistant will be responsible for the co-ordination of the READ-OUT clinical trials. The work with involve collaboration with the Trial Delivery Framework team at Oxford University as well as teams at the research and NHS clinical trial sites and external organisations. The DPUK team are based in the Psychiatry Department, University of Oxford, based at the Warneford Hospital. Responsibilities • Manage the communication (i.e., telephone, email, and/or post) for trial sites • Communicate with potential research participants (i.e., telephone, email, and/or post) who have expressed an interest in participating in the READ-OUT Programme of studies.
