Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position to assist a Wellcome Trust-funded project to investigate the brain mechanisms of flexible behaviour.

 

The role will be to provide skilled support for lab members on a program of work investigating how brains use internal models of their environment to plan goal-directed action sequences.  The role will involve collection of electrophysiological data from mice performing spatial navigation tasks, data processing, analysis and computational modelling.

 

The post is full-time, fixed term for 1 year.

 

The successful candidate will be qualified to MSc or equivalent degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience), and hold a Personal Licence to conduct animal-based scientific work.  With experience of using electrophysiology recordings in freely moving mice performing spatial behaviours and of processing video and/or ephys data. Programming experience (ideally Python), data analysis and computational modelling is also required.  They will have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
