The role The Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in Comparative Politics. The post holder will participate actively in a research group through the UKRI-funded project DEVAL, which studies why people support democracy and how autocrats try to use that support to facilitate authoritarian political outcomes. The successful applicant will play a key part in developing the group’s research designs, managing data collection and analysis, and writing original research articles. You will have expertise in survey and experimental methods and/or advanced quantitative methods for text analysis, in addition to substantive expertise in authoritarianism or democratic backsliding. Country or regional expertise is also preferred. The post holder will also provide support in the way of guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.
