About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team at the Oxford centre for Neuroinflammation.

You are invited to apply to join Professor Lars Fugger and his team at the MRC Translational Discovery Immunology Unit, based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. You will join a team of research scientists, computational biologists, and clinicians, have access to state-of-the-art technologies and collaborate with leading researchers both locally and globally.

This research project aims to explore the role of immune cells from patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) at different stages of disease and to understand how they interact with cells of the central nervous system (CNS). Using innovative techniques this research aims to expose new disease-associated immune cell populations and reinforce how environmental context is critical to their phenotype and subsequent role in disease. Our incomplete understanding of the causes and pathways involved in the onset and progression of MS limits our ability to effectively diagnose and treatment patients and therefore this research aims to be clinically translatable and aid drug development.

About You

You must hold a PhD in Immunology. Previous experience in MS research is not required, but experience with immune cell-based assays is essential. You should be highly motivated and have the ability to develop new ideas and research objectives.

If you would like to discuss your application informally before applying, please email Professor Fugger (lars.fugger@imm.ox.ac.uk).

Further information regarding the research group of Professors Lars Fugger can be found at: https://www.imm.ox.ac.uk/research/research-groups/fugger-group
