The specific duties and areas of work undertaken by the post-holder within the section may develop and change over time but initially will cover the areas set out below. Responsibilities Student casework You will manage a caseload of student applications on behalf of Education Committee, covering requests for adjustments to assessment on the grounds of disability or complex mitigating circumstances and technical casework relating to certain provisions in regulation. This will involve: • triaging cases by urgency and complexity • undertaking further investigations relating to cases by liaising with college, departmental, divisional and professional service staff • preparing case timelines and summaries • recording and collating all documentation related to individual student cases • maintaining records in the student cases database • making decisions and drafting outcomes for straightforward cases • working with Senior Policy Officers/Head of Student Casework to identify resolutions for more complex cases, and drafting outcomes and preparing cases to be referred to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) You will develop a detailed knowledge of University regulations and policy as applicable to casework, and advise academic and administrative staff on these in the context of the management of student cases. You will collaborate with other team members to help manage the workloads in the team. You will contribute to discussions about necessary changes to the administrative procedures, IT and office support to ensure the efficient handling of cases. Administrative duties You will handle requests for information in compliance with freedom of information and data protection legislation related to casework records. Other duties You will undertake other duties and tasks as required from time to time by the Head of Education Policy Support and/or Head of Student Casework.
