Responsibilities 1. a) Crankstart Scholarship Programme Acting as a point of contact for prospective students and on-course Scholars on all matters relating to their financial support, volunteering commitments and internships. Maintaining webpages on the programme for prospective and on-course Scholars. Supporting staff across the University with all aspects of the Scholarship Programme, providing specialist advice and guidance. b) Managing the annual selection and notification process of Crankstart Scholars on behalf of the Oxford Undergraduate Scholarship Fund Board of Management. Presenting briefing papers, writing reports, and making recommendations for policy change to the Board. c) Undertaking financial analysis for the undergraduate Crankstart Scholarship programme, ensuring the funds are managed efficiently and according to their intended purpose. d) Ensuring bursary payments and tuition fee reductions for Crankstart Scholars are managed effectively, in consultation with the relevant section of the team. e) Management of the large scale Crankstart welcome event to bring Scholars together, explain element of the programme and foster a sense of community amongst them. Review of scholarship terms and conditions annually, taking into account relevant legal advice, the experiences of past cohorts, and any current issues. f) Oversight of the regular liaison with the Internships Office in the Careers Service and with Oxford Hub, ensuring the review of opportunities for Scholars, their take-up and associated outcomes. Reviewing policy on provision and funding for Scholars to ensure they remain fit for purpose. g) Working with colleagues in the Development Office to provide progress reports to the donor (including financial analysis). h) Ensuring accurate student records are maintained, using eVision, the SLC Bursary Administration Service and other relevant databases and student record systems, and using this data to provide reports or information as requested. 2. a) Other financial support Overall operational management of the Oxford Bursary Scheme, ensuring policy and procedure is maintained, and supporting staff with its delivery. b) Managing externally supported scholarships that provide additional funding to students from lower income households and underrepresented groups. Co-ordinating the selection process, arranging payments and providing information to applicants. Identifying and implementing improvements to scholarship procedures and resolving any procedural problems. Supporting the Development Office in providing reports and information to donors, and advising on the drafting of new agreements. c) Maintaining accurate financial records, identifying areas where a shortfall or surplus may arise and developing policy and procedure to reduce the potential for this. d) Managing assessments of financial need for applications to a range of assistance schemes including the Student Support Bursary, Oxford Assistance Fund and Care Experienced and Estranged Student Bursary. Coordinating communication to staff and students, financial management, approving assessments and providing reports and information to relevant committees. e) Providing specialist advice and guidance to members of staff on funding opportunities, interpreting and explaining complex and detailed policy to non-specialists. This post is an exciting fixed term opportunity to develop your skills and experience in university administration. You will oversee and optimise operational delivery of the undergraduate financial support package, including the Crankstart Scholarships and Oxford Bursary, and the Oxford Assistance Fund.  This post may also be considered a secondment opportunity.
