PSI was established in 2021 as a multidisciplinary, University-wide initiative to build upon the model of innovation, collaboration and agility that yielded critical breakthroughs for COVID-19. Through academic excellence and equitable global partnerships PSI aims to safeguard health and economic stability for future generations. PSI enjoys productive partnerships with academia, industry and public health organisations and hosts researchers with diverse expertise including vaccinology, genomic surveillance, infectious disease epidemiology, clinical trials, public policy, and ethics. Its research portfolio is supported by a wide range of funders. The Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative was launched in 2023 and is funded at over $70 million. This programme will develop seven Epidemic and Pandemic Sciences Innovation and Leadership Networks (EPSILONs) across Africa, encompassing up to 40 institutions. The Collaborative will also include a substantial portfolio of policy engagement, knowledge exchange and capacity-strengthening activities over the next six years. The Collaborative is complex and multi-faceted, with multiple moving parts. You will be a critical member of the team, providing programmatic and administrative input to a range of activities. Responsibilities will include the management of document-sharing platforms, servicing senior committee meetings, event coordination, and day-to-day administration. You will also serve as the co-lead for at least one programmatic workstream, and will support the Senior Programme Manager in tracking milestones and deliverables across other workstreams. The role would suit a proactive and adaptable individual with an interest in global health and/or programme management, and with well-developed interpersonal, critical thinking, and administration skills. You will report to Philippa Johnstone, Senior Programme Manager. Maternity (or other family) leave cover post This post is to cover the absence of the substantive postholder, who is taking a period of maternity leave. The post is available for 12 months or the actual return of the substantive postholder, or the resignation of the substantive postholder and employment of a new postholder, whichever is the earliest. 1 Responsibilities You will: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Work closely with the Senior Programme Manager and multiple stakeholders at PSI and SFA Foundation to support the smooth and effective operational and financial management of the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative. Assist the Senior Programme Manager and other members of the team to maintain programmatic trackers and plans, also working closely with the Programme Manager and Programme Officer at SFA Foundation. This will include recording, tracking and following up on actions and maintaining detailed notes. Coordinate agendas and pre-read papers and produce minutes for the quarterly Collaborative Steering and Operations Committee meetings. Help to manage shared documentation platforms and folders, ensuring adequate version control and confidentiality and offering ideas for improvements where appropriate. Draft, coordinate and maintain programmatic documents for senior stakeholders. Where required, assist the Senior Programme Manager with the preparation of narrative reports for Mastercard Foundation. Serve as the co-lead for at least one programmatic workstream, working in conjunction with the training lead at SFA Foundation. This will include maintaining and updating workstream implementation plans and liaising closely with the communications and monitoring, evaluation and learning teams. Work closely with colleagues at SFA Foundation and PSI, undertake a significant proportion of the planning and delivery of the organisation of the 2026 annual meeting for the Collaborative, which is anticipated to be held in Oxford.
