About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven individual to join the Emerging Pathogens team as our Senior Programme Manager under the direction of Professor Teresa Lambe. The postholder will also be part of the Oxford Vaccine Group which is a multi-disciplinary team working across all aspects of vaccine research – this group led the rapid clinical development of vaccines against COVID-19 in the pandemic.

 

The Emerging Pathogens team have been developing and testing vaccines against viral hemorrhagic fevers and are progressing a number of vaccines against Ebolaviruses, which cause devasting disease. Our candidate vaccines have been shortlisted by the WHO to be included in a ring vaccination protocols during outbreaks in Uganda and elsewhere. The Emerging Pathogens team continues to work on these vaccines with a global network of collaborators, using cutting edge scientific technology paired with experienced vaccine development to progress vaccines to safeguard human health.

 

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially until 1 February 2027, with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.

 

This role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.

The programme of work requires a Senior Programme Manager to coordinate activities in the Filovirus CEPI funded project and oversee the Filovirus programme more generally. The focus of this role will be to support the development of these vaccines, as well as working alongside the wider team (scientists, clinicians, manufacturers, project managers and funders) to support the development of these vaccines. The Senior Programme Manager, will work both as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and independently, using their initiative to seek solutions to problems and provide excellent administrative support. Considerable experience in coordinating and project management of complex projects, thorough working knowledge of legislative, finance and research governance requirements. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and management skills and be able to interact productively and accurately with other team members, researchers and collaborators. While this collaborative approach will be a key feature of your role, you will also be required to work independently, taking the lead in initiatives.
