This includes ensuring the smooth operation of over 400km of underground fibre optic and copper cabling, supporting critical research, teaching, and administrative services across the University.&#160;Our team plays a vital role in maintaining the University's highly available and resilient network, working with enterprise-grade networking hardware and data centre facilities to provide robust and secure connectivity. We collaborate closely with internal IT teams, colleges, departments, and external service providers to deliver a reliable and scalable network infrastructure that underpins the University&#8217;s world-class research and academic activities.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>By joining our team, you will be at the forefront of network and data centre operations in one of the world&#8217;s leading academic institutions, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies, developing your expertise in network management, and contributing to the continuous improvement of IT services that support thousands of students, researchers, and staff.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div><strong>About the Role</strong></div><br> <div>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Centre and Network Operations Technician to join us on a permanent basis. <strong>Please note-</strong> Due to the hands-on nature of this role and the need to access physical infrastructure, the postholder will be required to work primarily on-site at the University&#8217;s data centres and network locations. However, we are committed to supporting flexibility where possible, and some administrative tasks may be completed remotely by agreement.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>As part of a highly skilled team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the University&#8217;s extensive network infrastructure, including over 400km of underground fibre optic and copper cabling. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of key network hardware, such as switches, wireless access points, VoIP devices, and monitoring tools. You will also support the operation of the University&#8217;s shared data centres, ensuring their power, cooling, and security systems function effectively.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>In this role, you will work closely with IT teams across the University, as well as external suppliers and contractors, to diagnose and resolve network faults, manage data centre infrastructure, and support IT staff with equipment installation and maintenance.
