About the Role

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to join Dr Sharma’s Mechanistic T Cell Genomics group. Dr Sharma will establish her group in May 2025 at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford, supported by a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award. The successful candidate will contribute to fundamental research in molecular immunology, employing systematic CRISPR/Cas9-based genetic screening approaches to investigate the biology of receptors in T cells. The candidate will be responsible for undertaking laboratory work as required in molecular and functional immune genetics, such as setting up arrayed and genome-wide screens, primary T cell cultures and genetic manipulation, sample preparation for -omics studies, and setting up automated liquid handling.

 

The post is funded via the Wellcome Trust and is available as a fixed-term contract for 3 years, with a possibility to extend. It is essential that you hold BSc in biology and/or molecular biology and/or immunology and have some experience wet-lab including at an undergraduate level. You should enjoy bench-work and are enthusiastic about learning new techniques specifically in the field of CRISPR-based screening approaches.
