About the Role


  • This is a pivotal technical leadership role for a highly skilled technical Specialist to define, develop and champion the University’s non-functional testing strategy. As Test Architect, you will lead the implementation of test automation frameworks, contribute to strategic planning and service improvement, and provide expert consultancy to projects and operational teams.

  • You’ll play a key role in driving software quality assurance across the organisation, working closely with project managers and quality assurance leads to integrate testing excellence into delivery frameworks. You’ll also support risk mitigation, promote best practice, and influence investment in new testing capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to shape and elevate testing practices at an institutional level.

  • The successful candidate will manage multiple priorities and continuous improvement initiatives, mentor junior testers, and share knowledge through training, workshops and internal networks – all while acting as a subject matter expert in non-functional testing.

Additionally, the Testing Architect will work closely with Portfolio QA Managers and Project Managers ensuring seamless integration of non-functional testing and test automation efforts. Responsibilities Lead and develop non-functional testing strategies, resources, automation frameworks and offer consultancy to the wider university. As the technical specialist influence strategic planning discussions, formulate test plans and influence business cases to secure investment with stakeholder support. Proven experience of working in a highly technical and/or complex environment. Previous experience of leading and motivating a team in matrix management environment, including both business and technical staff.
