About the Role 

This is a unique opportunity to support Oxford’s global engagement activities by ensuring the smooth running of key international initiatives and events. You will work with colleagues across the University to help coordinate overseas travel for senior leaders, manage Oxford’s involvement in global university networks, and host international delegations visiting the University. 

In addition to supporting the day-to-day operations of the team, you will also have the opportunity to work on specific projects - such as developing regional engagement plans or improving internal processes - with the support of senior colleagues.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the confidence to work with people from different cultures and at all levels of seniority 

  • Excellent organisational and IT skills

Based in the Development and Alumni Engagement Office (DAE) within the University Administration Offices at Wellington Square, the Global Engagement Team works under the direction of the DAE’s Director of Global 2 Philanthropy and the University’s Local and Global Engagement Officer to enhance and support the global engagement activities of the University of Oxford. The role is key to ensuring that the vital planning and administrative tasks that underpin the work of the International Engagement Office are carried out in a timely and organised manner. There will also be scope for the role holder to lead on their own projects in agreement with the Senior Global Engagement Officer. Key relationships: Senior Global Engagement Officer, International Engagement Officer, Director of Global Philanthropy, Local and Global Engagement Officer. Purpose: To meet the objectives outlined below and other key strategic priorities as identified by the University. The post holder will be able to use the support services provided (accounting, database, communications, stewardship and research). The post holder will be based in central Oxford, but they may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with their line manager. The line manager will regularly review progress. Philanthropy has played a key role in enabling the ambitions of our Division and wider University.  As the Senior Development Executive – Medical Sciences, you will work in lockstep with the Head of Development – Medical Sciences to secure philanthropy that furthers this cutting-edge medical research.   

 

About you

You will be a collaborative fundraiser with an expertise in major gifts and a strong track record of securing complex philanthropic support. Thriving in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, you will be both a strategic thinker and a skilled operator—communicative, adaptable, and naturally adept at building strong, lasting relationships. Your ability to establish credibility and foster trust across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders will be key to your success. Experience in higher education or the medical sector is desirable, as is a background in global health.  Above all, you will share Oxford’s mission and be driven to create meaningful impact through strategic philanthropic partnerships.
