We are seeking to appoint a Senior Vaccine Production Scientist (Maternity
Cover) to join the production team for The Clinical BioManufacturing Facility
(CBF) here at The Nuffield Department of Medicine.
The Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF) at the University of Oxford
produces high-quality Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) according to
the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to support early-phase
clinical trials in the UK and worldwide. We manufactured the first doses of
the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 for the UK trials and vaccines
for Malaria, TB, Zika, Rabies, Plague, Ebola and other diseases that have a
global impact.
As Senior Vaccine Production Scientist you will be part of the Production
team, manufacturing IMPs in our suite of GMP cleanrooms. You will have day-to-
day responsibility for ensuring that Upstream, Downstream and Fill and Finish
processes are performed to the highest standards and according to pre-
determined procedures and timelines under the guidance of the GMP Production
Manager. You will also play a role in transferring new upstream and downstream
processes for use in manufacturing. You will oversee the work of a small team
of Production staff. You will be highly organised, highly motivated with good
interpersonal skills. Good communication skills and the ability to work both
as part of a team and independently are essential for this role.
It is essential that you are educated to Degree level, or equivalent, in a
relevant subject with extensive relevant experience. You will have experience
in working in a regulated environment (e.g. GMP or GLP), and have experience
in mammalian cell culture, with good aseptic technique. It is essential for
the role that you have experience in biological downstream processes such as
tangential flow filtration and/or chromatography.
