Senior Researcher and Deputy Director, Nature-based Solutions Initiative

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>We are looking to appoint a Senior Researcher and Deputy Director in Nature-based Solutions as part of a new collaboration between the Biology and the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The Nature-based Solutions Initiative (NbSI) is an interdisciplinary programme of research, education and policy advice led by Professor Nathalie Seddon, based in the Department of Biology. Its mission is to enhance understanding of the potential of nature-based solutions (NbS) to address multiple global challenges whilst supporting the health of ecosystems and respecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. This post will be based in the Smith School, as part of the collaboration between the two departments: the post-holder will play a key role in helping to grow and maintain the reach and reputation of the NbSI.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will work with the Director to set the strategic direction for the next phase of the NbSI, and support the Director in the leadership of the overall programme. They will also work with the Director on funding bids to the research councils as well as philanthropic partners. The post holder will represent the Director in internal and external meetings at Oxford.</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will develop and lead their own programme of research within one or more specific area of the overall NbSI and will regularly write research articles on NbS for high-impact journals, present papers at conferences, and disseminate research findings to a range of audiences and actors including using non-traditional outputs such as policy briefs.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will hold a relevant Ph.D/D.Phil with significant post-qualification research experience in nature-based solutions. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge of nature-based solutions to develop research projects and methodologies, and have an established reputation and publication track record in nature-based solutions.</div><br> <div>The post holder will have an existing network within the world of nature-based solutions &#8211; in the research community and/or in the policy and practice community. Evidence of team building and of having the flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team is essential, as is evidence of securing competitive grant funding, and experience of managing research budgets.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Applications are particularly welcome and encouraged from women, black, and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in posts in SoGE.
