Executive Assistant to Director of Assurance
Applications for this vacancy closed on 13 November 2023 at 06:45AM
**About the Directorate**
Formed in September 2019, the Assurance Directorate is one of the newest
departments in the University of Oxford’s University Administration and
Services: the ‘corporate centre’ of the University. Comprising Information
Compliance; Information Security and Risk and Resilience teams, the
Directorate manages risk, ensures compliance and provides assurance to the
University’s Council, its Committee and sub-Committees, and senior decision-
makers including the Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellors and the Registrar –
the Chief Operating Officer to in whose portfolio the department is based. Our
remit also covers working across the wider collegiate university, with our
work mainly focused on divisions and departments, and dealing with the
regulators, external customers and other stakeholders.
**About the Role**
This is an exciting time to join Assurance Directorate and work at the heart
of the University’s business in a busy, challenging and fast-moving
environment. This fast-paced and demanding role will support the Executive
Director of Assurance and the department across a broad range of executive
assistant and administrative responsibilities.
This exciting role provides an opportunity to work for an experienced Director
committed to developing his team and working to build an outstanding
department. It is also an opportunity to work for a world-class university and
a department, which values its people and aims for excellence in service
delivery.
**About You**
You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic and pro-active professional with
experience in the key areas of responsibility, demonstrating the manner,
maturity and confidence required of an effective assistant.
In respect of your experience, you are likely to be a current Executive
Assistant or Personal Assistant wanting the challenges offered in a role
supporting an Executive Director working in a corporate department at a
forefront of organisational change.
Knowledge of the University of Oxford and the ability to build effective
relationships is a must. You will need to hit the ground running when you
start in the role to help us build administrative and business arrangements
for what is a new department, but we will support and guide you so that you
can succeed.
You will enjoy working in a complex, very fast-paced environment and cope well
with pressure and ambiguity involved in a corporate role. You will be
comfortable expecting and meeting the demands of the Executive Director in
order to manage their schedule, going the extra mile as and when required.
Ultimately, the role of the Executive Assistant and departmental administrator
is to support the Director and the Department, so you will need to understand
the context, predict and respond to changing demands, pre-empt issues, manage
competing priorities, adopt pragmatic solutions and deliver at pace to very
high standards.
This is an evolving area of responsibility; accordingly the post-holder will
need to be comfortable with an emergent remit and evolving responsibilities.
**What we offer**
You will benefit from support and working in close collaboration with the rest
of our committed team and the EA/PA Network. You will get exposure to many
areas of the University, opening multiple career avenues for the future. We
will invest in your personal development through training and professional
development. The University also offers an excellent contributory pension
scheme and 30 days annual leave on appointment (increasing with length of
service).
We are committed to providing a culture of continuous learning which actively
supports the professional and personal development of our staff.

**We will be conducting interviews throughout this process and hold the right
to close applications early should we find a suitable candidate **
