We are seeking to appoint an Events and Communications Assistant to join the
Department of Economics in our External Engagement team. This is an exciting
opportunity to gain a broad range of event and communication experience in a
supportive team, and will offer the right candidate an excellent foundation
for a longer-term career in communications and events administration. This
post may be offered as a secondment opportunity.





This post encompasses a broad range of administrative duties that support the
Department’s research and teaching activities. The post holder will coordinate
the organisation of the seminar series, support the administration of
department conferences and events (including the Oxford University Business
Economics Programme), support department communication activities managed by
the Communications and Events Manager, and undertake general administration
duties required to ensure a smooth day-to-day operation of the department.





You will support the MPhil Students Reps and MPhil Academic team in organising
regular Townhalls and other social events; support the Department EA in
ordering catering for Department meetings.





You will join the External Engagement team, whilst also working closely with
colleagues in finance, personnel, research management, administrative
leadership and department faculty and postdocs.





To be successful in this role, you will be educated to A-level or equivalent
professional experience, and have excellent writing skills and attention to
detail. You will have sound organisation and administration skills, and
excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with
stakeholders. Competence using a range of computer-based and online
applications is essential, including some experience in using website content
management systems. Applicants must be able to organise their own workload and
work to deadlines and have strong IT skills, Nexus 365, SharePoint, and Office
suite.





Experience of working in an events role would be an advantage. Ideally,
applicants will have experience in using current University systems, such as
intranet pages, and an understanding of the processes, policies, and
procedures associated with working within the Higher Education sector.
