Teaching Workshop Supervisor/Mechanical Engineer

The University of Oxford has one of the largest and most successful chemistry
departments in the world and the Department of Chemistry is looking to recruit
a Mechanical Engineering and Student Workshop Technician.
**About the Role**
You will design, build, modify, maintain and repair items of scientific
research equipment and instrumentation as required by academic research within
the Department of Chemistry.
You will be responsible for delivering CAD (Computer Aided Design) and 3D
printer training to students and staff as part of a new Chemistry Student
Workshop course. This course will also cover an introduction to machining
techniques used by the main workshop, giving students an understanding of how
items can be made.
**About you**
You will hold a HNC, BTEC, City and Guilds award or equivalent and a
recognised apprenticeship in an appropriate engineering discipline. You will
have experience of teaching or training and extensive experience with CAD
software and setting up an running 3D printers and their respective software
packages.
You will have experience of working from complex engineering drawings to
produce high precision components using manual and CNC lathes and milling
machines.
You will have general IT skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and
thorough understanding of health and safety in a workshop environment.
