**Job Title:** **Postdoctoral Research Scientist**
**Salary/Grade:** **Grade 7. £36,024 - £44,263 per a****nnum**
**Fixed Term until 31 October 2026**
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work with the
Goodwin group at the Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour. The project
will understand how an animal integrates visual information with an internal
sexual state.
The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with a background in
biology/neuroscience and a long-term interest in understanding the circuit
basis of brain function and Behaviour.
The successful candidate will use web-based software to reconstruct neuronal
morphology and analyse synaptic connectivity, analyse and interpret data using
data analysis tools, construct Drosophila strains, identify genetic reagents
and design experiments, be actively involved with all aspects of the Goodwin
group, speak and present at group lab meetings and national/international
conferences and take responsibility for the day to day academic duties
including planning for tasks and experiments.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD or be near to completing a PhD in
Neuroscience, have detailed knowledge and experience of Drosophila genetics,
experience in functional analyses of neural circuits, microscopy experience,
experience with computer programming, good communication skills and be
motivated to understand the circuit basis of brain function and Behaviour.
The post is available for immediate start, but the start date is flexible.
The post will be based in The Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour,
Tinsley Building. Mansfield Road, Oxford.
