Applications for this vacancy closed on 23 October 2023 at 12:00PM
Oxford Physics pursues forefront research alongside training the next
generation of leaders in Physics. With an academic staff body of over 100,
activities range from fundamental particles to the furthest reaches of the
universe to manipulating matter on an atomic scale. Oxford physicists are
probing new ways to harness solar energy, exploring computation on the quantum
scale and revealing the fundamental structure of space and time.

A Project Portfolio Manager plays an essential part in ensuring that Principal
Investigators are sufficiently supported while managing specific large and
complex research grants. You will manage national and international research
projects in Climate and Atomic and Laser Physics.

The postholder will be expected to deliver a high quality, efficient and
effective service to their group of PIs and other key stakeholders, involving
many aspects of the Department's research support activity. This includes
maintaining and improving efficient procedures to manage awards and anticipate
risks, financial management and forecasting as well as financial reporting and
auditing.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable intellectual, analytical and
IT skills together with the ability to handle and prioritise a wide portfolio
of responsibilities in a challenging environment, and be able to communicate
effectively with a range of people. Previous experience of research
administration is not essential as training can be given. The position has a
fixed-term of 4 years in the first instance but is likely to be extended as
more grant funding is won.
