<p></p><div>We are seeking a full-time PDRA to join Environmental Fluid Mechanics group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford).  The post is funded by EPSRC and has a fixed-term contract until the end of the project (currently 30 September 2024 but a short extension is likely).</div><br>

<div>The project aims to improve the modeling of the non-linear physics included in wave  loading on fixed offshore wind turbines. Existing wave loading models do not include the key features of the non-linear physics which often leads to additional loading at the resonant frequency of the structure. The project has built on past experiments, new experiments in the Kelvin Hydrodynamics laboratory in Strathclyde, and numerical modelling works carried out in Bath. The focus of this role is to analyse the numerical and experimental data and develop an open source tool for wave loading. Details are given in the further particulars. </div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil or be near completion* together with relevant experience and possess knowledge of ocean wave mechanics and loading on offshore structures. Experience of the design and analysis of offshore wind turbines or similar structures and the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities is essential. </div><br>
