At the heart of this job is the prevention of babies dying around the time of
birth. You will work on the national PMRT programme which focuses on
understanding why babies die and working to prevent future deaths. We have
developed the national Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) to help
hospitals in the UK carry out robust reviews when babies die to learn lessons
to prevent future deaths. This technical post is central to developing and
maintaining the PMRT IT systems; the information collected through our IT
systems is absolutely key to what we do.
As Senior C# Developer and Data Manager for the PMRT programme you will be an
experienced programmer, proficient in C#, ASP.NET MVC Entity Framework, T-SQL,
JavaScript and jQuery and Microsoft Azure DevOps with Agile Scrum.
The postholder will provide technical input and support to the MBRRACE-UK/PMRT
software development team. The key responsibilities will include developing
and maintaining the data entry system, the relevant databases and resulting
data with specific responsibility (Grade 8) for planning and leading the
technical developments.
The post is based in the Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) which
comprises world-renowned population health research groups and provides an
excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The
National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit is an internationally recognised, multi-
disciplinary research unit based within the NDPH at the University of Oxford,
Old Road Campus in Headington, Oxford. The Unit undertakes research about
pregnancy, childbirth and newborn babies.
To be considered for this role, you will hold a relevant degree and have
extensive experience of programming in C# in a work environment using ASP.NET
MVC Framework, .NET, JavaScript/jQuery and working with SQL Server databases.
You will also have the ability to clearly document and validate programs,
experience in data processing, knowledge of web application security and the
ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects. You will also have the
ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) highly technical
information in a non-technical way.
The position is full time (part time considered) and fixed term until March
2026 in the first instance.
This role will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Please note
