We are appointing the Head of Communications in the Radcliffe Department of
Medicine (RDM), to be responsible for the strategic oversight of internal and
external communications and their operational delivery. We are a large, multi-
disciplinary, multi-site department whose core mission is to improve health by
understanding shared mechanisms of human disease.
Reporting to RDM’s Head of Administration and Finance, you will lead and shape
an internal and external communications strategy for the Department, improving
existing practices and establishing new ones. Your work will strengthen
information sharing and raise awareness of the goals and achievements of RDM
across the Department, the Medical Sciences Division, the University of Oxford
and wider research communities. You will work with academic and professional
members of the Department, building strong relationships across RDM, as well
as with Medical Sciences communications and the Public Affairs Directorate.
You will line manage and matrix manage communications colleagues across the
Department.
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject, with a strong academic record,
you will have significant, relevant and first-hand experience in a
communications role in a scientific setting. This is an exciting opportunity
to use your ability to conceive, deliver and evaluate both creative and
successful communication strategies. This influential post requires excellent
skills in stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, operational
communications and networking.
This is a permanent position available on a full-time basis.
