<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div><strong>About the Role</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>A Biobanker position is available in the Translational Gastroenterology Unit (TGU), Experimental Medicine Division, Nuffield Department of Medicine, Oxford. This position involves collecting samples from clinical settings such as Outpatient clinics, Surgery and endoscopy. We are currently implementing Universal consent in endoscopy with an aim of getting as much research material as possible and to achieve this we will be looking at using digital consent as one of consenting tools. You will also be over seeing a database containing information and samples derived from the Oxford GI biobank and other relevant cohorts within the gastroenterology department and wider cancer community. The postholder will also work closely with the Oxford Molecular Diagnostics Centre in sample acquisition and consent.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>In this post, you will provide support to the research scientists in the Experimental Medicine division at the John Radcliffe Hospital site and the Kennedy Institute and be part of the Biobanking team. The key duties are listed below and will require some manual handling. Full training will be provided.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post will involve routine weekly collection of samples obtained from donors for banking and for selected studies within the TGU, national and international studies. You will work closely with post-doctoral fellows in processing of gut samples. You will routinely liaise with a wide range of contacts related to the Biobank, including:</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>o&#160;&#160; Members of the Biobank Team</div><br> <div>o&#160;&#160; Patients</div><br> <div>o&#160;&#160; Members of the clinical teams &#8211; nursing, surgical, pathology</div><br> <div>o&#160;&#160; Researchers wishing to seek access to samples</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>You will hold a Degree in a relevant subject, e.g. Biological Sciences. You must be able to demonstrate good time management and organisational skills, including the ability to plan and manage own work schedule, accommodate unexpected changes and travel between sites in Oxford as dictated by the sample collection and processing schedule.
