<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Research Fellow in Economics to conduct research for the Global Priorities Institute.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post is fixed-term from the date of appointment for up to four years and is anticipated to start in September 2024 (flexible).</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>As a Senior Research Fellow, you will work with the economics team at GPI to develop research projects directly relevant to GPI&#8217;s research agenda that intersect with your own areas of interest and expertise, and you will spend at least 50% of your time working on these projects. The role requires no teaching load and only minor supervision responsibilities, although teaching may be arranged if the fellow would like to do so. The Global Priorities Institute is an interdisciplinary research centre, which aims to develop and promote rigorous, scientific approaches to the question of how appropriately motivated actors can do good more effectively. GPI formally sits within the Faculty of Philosophy at Oxford University. You will be a member of GPI&#8217;s economics research team and an Associate Member of the Department of Economics, one of the world&#8217;s leading economics departments. You will be based at the Global Priorities Institute, and you will have a desk at the Economics Department in the Manor Road Building as well as at GPI&#8217;s offices. You will be assigned a mentor who is a member of the Department of Economics and you will also have the opportunity to receive mentorship and research advice from more senior economists external to Oxford who work with GPI.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The applicant is required to have a PhD awarded either in Economics or in a closely related discipline together with equivalent experience and expertise in Economics and significant post-qualification research experience. Also essential are experience of independent research, outstanding academic ability, and an excellent track record in producing research suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, you must possess a genuine interest in global priorities research and be able to reflect on the impact of their research on the world beyond academia.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>We particularly encourage applications from women, black and ethnic minority candidates, as these groups are underrepresented in economics.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Please note that GPI is advertising for a number of postdoctoral and senior research fellow roles in economics and will run the selection processes for these concurrently.
