Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemistry

Applications for this vacancy closed on 27 November 2023 at 12:00PM
**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS POST HAS BEEN EXTENDED **

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemistry to
work under the supervision of Professor Andrew Baldwin for a period of up to 3
years. The project is part of a wider programme of work to establish that
membraneless organelles, biological liquid droplets, are effectively regions
of organic solvent, suspended inside cells and that the properties of each are
governed by the specific intermolecular interactions responsible for
stabilising the chains. This presents an exciting opportunity to demonstrate
how fundamental principles from physical chemistry have been incorporated into
cellular function.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Biochemistry or a related area, or be close to
completion, prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires
experience in protein expression, production of biological samples, a passion
for precise work in the wet lab, ideally with knowledge in advanced microscopy
techniques. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and
administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, co-
ordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery,
Oxford and be available in Q1 2024.

You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your
online application. The closing date for applications is **12.00 midday 27
November 2023**. Interviews will be held remotely in November or December
2023.

The University of Oxford is a Bronze Athena SWAN holder and the Department of
Chemistry is a Silver award holder. Applications are particularly welcome from
women and black and ethnic minority candidates, who are under-represented in
