The Medical Sciences Division are looking to recruit a Head of Team to run our
Translational Research Office (TRO). The mission of this office is to work
with our research community, the divisional research and innovation leadership
and Oxford University Innovation to identify promising translational research
projects and actively help them to secure the appropriate financial support
and expertise to deliver impact. The TRO is entering its 5th year of operation
and after a successful set-up phase we are looking for a team lead who can
further grow the ambitions of the office and develop the future strategy in
order to enhance and embed the successful delivery of translational support
for Oxford researchers.
We are seeking a confident self-starter with excellent interpersonal and
influencing skills as well as extensive experience in translational research
project management for this important post. You and your team will be
responsible for seeking out new opportunities, prioritising projects and
driving the development of new project plans and funding bids. Your team will
provide ongoing project management for a portfolio of translational research
projects in the biomedical sciences.
The successful candidate will have extensive and proven experience in
translational project planning and delivery, with a successful track record of
project and/or research management activities. Excellent interpersonal and
networking skills are essential, alongside the ability to influence and build
relationships with academic, research and support staff. A scientific
background in the life or clinical sciences is a must, as well as experience
of drafting bids for research funding.
The post holder will be based at the Joint Research Office on the Old Road
Campus site in Headington, Oxford. This position is full time and is fixed
term until 31 July 2025 in the first instance, with the potential for renewal.
